Who we are

MIRO Analytical Technologies has been founded as an Empa spinoff to bring the latest mid-infrared gas sensing technology based on quantum cascade lasers (QCL) to the market.
Many industries, such as chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas or automotive, rely on gas analyzers, sensors and detectors to control processes, emissions or work-place safety. We are using newly developed multi-color QCLs to build compact, yet very powerful, laser absorption spectrometers targeting gas sensing applications of small molecules. The instrument we are developing will be able to detect several gases simultaneously, directly, and with high precision and has the potential to replace existing technologies.

Our Partners

Empa is an interdisciplinary research institute of the ETH Domain conducting cutting-edge materials and technology research. We closely collaborate with the Laboratory for Air Pollution / Environmental Technology that has a track record of instrument development for environmental gas sensing.

ETHZ is a Swiss Federal Institute of Technolofy, which  is ranked among the top universities in the world. The dual-color QCLs were developed in the Quantum Optoelectronic Group of Prof. J. Faist, who was a pioneer in the development of QCLs.
