Problem

Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is one of the main tropospheric air pollutants. NO2 is produced as a result of combustion processes and road traffic when coal, gas and diesel are burnt at high temperatures.

Breathing air with elevated concentrations of NO2 can lead to increased inflammation of the airways, reduced lung function, increased asthma attacks and can cause asthma in children. Monitoring and regulation of the NO2 levels in the atmosphere is a key task for air quality control and improvement of the general population’s health.

The fraction amount of NO2 in the tropospheric air can vary from tens of parts-per-billion by volume in highly polluted industrial areas to parts-per-trillion by volume in the free troposphere.

Currently, there are very few instruments available on the market that allow to measure such low concentrations of NO2.

MIRO MGA — NO2 product advantages

Direct measurements of NO2 – no conversion factors

  • MGA — NO2 analyzer is based on the laser absorption spectroscopy technique that allows to measure NO2 directly without need to convert to NO

High precision

  • In comparison with standard methods of NO2 monitoring, MGA — NO2 analyzer allows to reach high precision due to direct measurements of gas concentration

Fast response time

  • Measurement rate of 1 Hz allows the MGA — NO2 analyzer to resolve rapidly changing concentrations of NO2 in ambient air.
